Hi, I’m Preston Lofgren. I’m a small town raised Wyoming boy from the little town of Dayton Wyoming. Yes, it has more cows then the 500 people that inhabit the town. After my family moved back from living abroad, we enjoyed the quiet Wyoming life style snuggled in at the foothills of the Big Horn mountains. Building bridges across rivers, camping, racing go karts, welding my fathers machinery, and fixing the homes problems was just a few of the problem tasks I enjoyed solving while growing up on the old ranch property. During my middle school and high school years, I worked as a welder, life guard/swim instructor, fencer, and an engine mechanic at John Deere. Come winters though, I snow plowed before and after school during the week for Dirt'n'More (my first business) and worked three days a week at the local ski area, Antelope Butte. Skiing and backcountry activities have become a life long passion that has brought me to enjoy many mountains in different countries around the world.
I attended The University of Montana Tech in Butte Montana where I played for the Oredigger football team. I graduated with a Mechanical Engineering degree, Math minor and an emphasis in Metallurgy. Engineering clubs, mountain biking, skiing, and toys with engines kept me busy through my college years. With the oil field booming and plenty of innovation to be discovered in 2008, I accepted a job in Louisiana where I worked on off-shore oil rigs as a Field Engineer for an oil services company. Later I became a Project Design Engineer where I was able to design tools and, along with my team, successfully acquired my first patent for an oil tool design. My opportunity to fulfill a passion of sharing knowledge and traveling with the current company led me to a client representing position in The Netherlands working as a Project Engineer in the North Sea for a French owned oil company. I packed up my belongings and moved to a small quant town outside of Amsterdam called Haarlem.
Traveling, working, and learning the fascinating Dutch culture kept me busy for a couple years. My soon to be wife also made some shifts in her career and was able to join me abroad to work and travel the world. A truly magical and unforgetable bonding experience! If you can live abroad and travel to dozens of countries for weekend getaways, and still stay sane together, you know you have met your lover match!
My wife found new opportunity in Boston which gave way for me to continue learning. Upon both of us eventually moving to the unfamiliar Northshore Boston area, I started my masters degree at UMass Lowell in Innovation and Technological Entrepreneurship. While attending school, I worked for a start-up company out of MIT that is creating and testing the future of sensors to make all automotive diesel engines burn cleaner and more efficient. After graduated, I went to work for a european style fireplace company as the Lead Product Developer of new and existing fireplaces. I lead a team of 3 designers/interns and brought new fireplaces to the market, including “cool glass” fan technology. With problem solving, entrepreneurship passion, and innovating thoughts in my blood line, I decided to side step the cooperate work world and strike out on my own. Hands on passion, professional business experience, and a wide variety of knowledge, it only made sense to see how I can make the world a better place by applying my skills.
I have owned and improved multiple homes throughout my life. I worked as a independent contractor with a local contractor solving his handyman problem jobs, remodeling spa bathrooms, and fully gutting and rebuilding an 1852, 3 story home in Marblehead, as well as improving other homes and businesses on the Northshore. I’m passionate about working with my hands, solving problems, and creating minimal style furniture to best suite what a space needs to become effective and efficient for those that use the space daily.
